HOW THE BRAIN IS AFFECTED BY DEPRESSION
Depression is caused by chemical changes in the body that affect the functioning of the brain. Brain is a messaging system that controls every function of the body including our emotions. Our brain is made up of billions of nerve cells called neurons that send and receive messages from the rest of the body with the aid of brain chemicals called neurotransmitters. These chemicals affect our emotional state. When these chemical messages are not delivered properly between the brain cells it results in depression.
